This exciting
program features an eclectic mix of musical styles all set to the words of
the famous English writer, William Shakespeare. Texts drawn from his plays
and sonnets will be woven together to bring the words and music to
life. This
year's annual Christmas program brings together a wonderful mix of
Christmas choral works with an emphasis on music for brass, organ, and
choir. The centerpiece of the concert will be John Rutter's Gloria
combined with Pinkham's Christmas Cantata. The
year 2009 marks significant anniversaries for three of the world's
greatest composers, Handel, Haydn, and Mendelssohn. This concert will
feature the great choral masterpieces from their oratorios including
Messiah, The Creation, and Elijah. All
performances are at First Centenary United Methodist Church. Individual
concert tickets are available at the door: adults $15, students $5 (with
valid student identification).
